At
every level of the supply chain there are checks to ensure the quality
and standard of the flower.
Every product has a specification ensuring
quality comes first right from the beginning of the process.
Any stems falling below these high standards are immediately withdrawn.
Upon harvest the crop undergoes further quality testing at
the farm before being packed and sent to Nairobi to await transport
to the UK. Further checks are undertaken at Nairobi before the
crop
is loaded on the plane to be transported to the UK. At this point
the crop has undergone vigorous checks to ensure the quality and
standard of each stem matches customer specifications.
When the crop arrives in the UK it is sent directly to World Flower’s
in North Warnborough. Once again it is checked before proceeding
to packing when the finished material specifications are checked.
Once the flowers have been packed spot checks are carried out
before they are loaded onto the lorries for delivery. At no point
do the flowers leave a controlled atmosphere – the cool
chain
– and are therefore unaffected by external elements.
In all each crop goes through 12 separate checks from harvest on the farm to retail display ensuring all customers receive the best quality flowers
available in the market place.
