This means that on those farms that have been audited & certified
by the FLO (Fairtade Labelling Organisation) to receive an additional
premium for their Fairtrade products. How this premium is spent is
determined by a specially elected committee consisting of farm
workers, who identify projects that the fund can be spent on to benefit
the workers, community and their families.
Too many producers in the developing world have to contend with
fluctuating prices that may not even cover what it costs to produce
their crop. So Fairtrade can make a big impact on their day-to-day
life, and on workers future and that of their family.
